Come see us in the yard!

After nap time the Johnsons can usually be found out in the yard. Evelyn is quickly learning to eat under the nursing cover and bug netting, thanks to her big brother's enthusiasm for the great outdoors and his new wading pool. Come splash or lounge with us!

Farewell!

It took a lot of coaxing to get Drew into a last picture with Mimi and Bomp, but when we suggested CLIMBING up behind them and peeking out, he was willing to be part of the farewell photo. We are so thankful for my mom and dad's help, and already looking forward to their visit in June!

Drew's Adventures

Drew was all over town with Mimi and Bomp last week, so we had to post a few highlights from his adventures!

A friendly statue and butterflies at the Natural History Museum!
The Zoo!

Of course now that we're home alone, Drew may think, "I'll just take myself to the park."

A Week Old

Evelyn celebrated her one week birthday with a bath and some playtime on her beautiful quilt from Aunt Chris. We rejoice in God's gift of this sweet baby girl! It's hard to believe she's only been with us a week! Drew has been out every morning with his grandparents on adventures, so Mommy is even getting some rest.

We're Home Again!

We are grateful for good recovery time at the hospital, but so glad to be home! Evelyn is doing very well and we pray she will continue to eat and sleep as well at home as she has the first few days of her life.
Evelyn is seen here on day two of her life. We heard back that the veiled photo of Evelyn in our earlier family shot was not enough for her public. So here is a full face-shot with her cute chin and all.

Evelyn May Johnson

We are so excited to introduce you to Evelyn May Johnson. By God's grace, Evelyn arrived healthy and well at George Washington University Hospital on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 9:10 AM. She was 20 inches long and weighed 7 pounds, 7 oz. Evelyn was named after Rebecca's 2 grandmothers, Evelyn Holcomb Faford and Nadine May Riggs.

Drew came to visit this afternoon - he gave good pat-pats, and was happy to see mommy and daddy again too after their "date." He's having a great time with his Mimi and Bomp (a.k.a. Grandma and Grandpa Riggs) at home... and might be a little spoiled when we return.

Truck Touch

We knew that Drew would have a great time at the Cheverly Truck Touch the first weekend in May, but I don't think we had a clue just how much he would love it. We spent the next week watching the truck stamp fade from his hand, and reliving the fun and excitement of "driving."

Spring Fun!

Aunt Chris came to see us and the cherry blossoms

Drew had fun "driving" a moving truck! Thank you for the furniture mom and dad!

Drew rode the Smithsonian Carousel with Rebecca's cousin Don's kids, Decker and Devin.

Drew loves his John Deer Sweatshirt - a birthday present from Mimi and Bomp! This is the silly smile I get when I ask Drew to smile for the camera - I'll do my best to catch the real ones.

Our cherry tree was as pretty as ever this year. And we think the kid beneath it is pretty cute too!

Drew Turns 2!

We celebrated Drew's arrival in the world with a cowboy party! I think he had as much fun as we did!

Drew has only recently been introduced to dessert - so chocolate covered chocolate cupcakes were a big hit with the birthday boy. But he'll remind you about his candles even now, "No eating stars."

By next year, I'm sure he'll want more input - but Andy and I really enjoyed making a BBQ feast for our friends and his, and a cowboy theme is pretty easy to put together around the Johnson house!

Back to Blogging

The Johnsons are not too proud to admit, we were wrong. We thought this blog was going to end with our return to Washington, but we have realized the usefulness to ourselves - and to you our friends and family - of jotting down a few happenings and posting a few pictures from time to time. So we're back. And with the hope of a big announcement just around the corner, we encourage you to stay tuned for news on baby girl! For now, we'll add a few updates on what we've been up to since we returned from Turkey... mostly in the form of pictures of Drew, because we know that's what you really care about! We'll start with the snow that greeted us upon our return. Drew loved it! He still talks about Miss Jessica taking him out to play in it!
